Race Car Test Day
Race Car Test Days at Taupo are test days run by the Taupo Motorsport Park Team and are held prior to the weekends Race Event. Groups for the test day will depend on the classes that will be racing over the weekend. Test day booking links will be provided to the Promoter of the race as well as the Series Coordinators. If you have entered into the race event and have not been provided the link to the test day, please contact the Promoter and your Series Coordinator.
Race Car Test Days are an opportunity for drivers to test their race cars on the International Circuit.
Cars will be grouped by speed as follows:
- Slow 1.50+
- Medium 1.41 – 1.50
- Fast under 1.41
- Open Wheelers/Sportscars
- Karts (not on all Race Car Test Days)
Please note that the groups and session times may vary depending on the speed/number of cars on the day.
All sessions are 15 minutes long, giving each driver at least five 15 minute sessions on track throughout the day.
You will need to fill out an Indemnity form before you can go on track. You can do this prior to arrival by clicking on the link in your confirmation email.
Please note:
- Any additional drivers are $50 each and will need all the same safety gear as the driver. Additional driver means same car, same speed group.
- Taupo International Motorsport Park reserves the right to refuse or revoke any entrant at any time.
- Book online to secure your spot. We do not accept walk-ins on the day.

How it works
7:30AM
Gates open & registration begins. 08:30 AM, the COMPULSORY drivers briefing starts.
9AM
First session begins. All sessions are 15 minutes long, giving each driver at least five 15 minute sessions on track
5PM
Track closes. *Track closing time may differ depending on the days schedule.

Safety
These days are restricted to race cars only
You must bring your MSNZ logbook or MEGA AASA Pro series Passport to registration
You must bring your MSNZ license or AASA National Race Licence to registration
This is a non-drift day. All entrants are strictly supervised throughout the day to ensure there is no overzealous driving
Passengers are not permitted
What to wear
A minimum of a single layer fire-retardant race suit, helmet, FHR, fire-retardant shoes, and fire-retardant gloves are compulsory

FAQS
Can I take a passenger?
No, although you can pay $50 for an additional driver to drive your car.
How many laps on the track do I get?
We do 5 x sessions per category for 15 minutes. The laps depend on the speed that you are going.
What license do I need and what requirements are there for the car?
You and all other drivers will need a Motorsport NZ (MSNZ) License or AASA National Race Licence to registration. Your car must also hold a current MSNZ Logbook or MEGA AASA Pro series Passport.
Can I attend if my car does not have a roll-cage?
No, these days are restricted to race car only, so your car must be FULLY roll caged.
What safety equipment is required?
You will require a single layer fire-retardant race suit, helmet, FHR, fire retardant gloves, and fire retardant boots.
Is this a race day?
No, it is not. This is a chance to test your car before a race day.
